The Womack Herons gather round the barbecue at Salhouse

You don't have to own a boat to be a member of the Womack Herons. However, many of our meetings take place at riverside locations and some people travel there by boat.

In some cases, it is necessary to contact the meeting
organiser to let them know you are coming or to choose menus
or some other option. You will find details of how to do
this with each event. Please note that some dates and venues
may change. We will send an e-mail to all members if this
happens. If you change your e-mail, please make sure that
the organisers know or you may miss out.
Visitors and guests are always welcome at Herons Meetings.

Saturday 31st August: Tea/Coffee and scones
in Horning. Cruise or drive to Horning for tea/coffee
and scones in the garden at Tricia's house, served from
2.30pm. Booking not required but it would help catering to
know numbers. Contact Tricia with numbers and for directions
Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th September: On Saturday 14th, cruise or drive to Gays Staithe (nr Neatishead) for a lunchtime BBQ from 1pm. BYO food and chairs. Boaters may wish to stay overnight. On Sunday 15th, drive, cruise or walk to The White Horse, Neatishead for lunch at 12.30pm. Booking required by 7th September.
Friday 27th September: Cruise or drive to St Benet’s Abbey for a guided tour starting at 11am. This is St Benet’s 1000 year anniversary – come and discover more of its history, stories and secrets! After the tour stay and enjoy a picnic by the river – bring your own picnic. Booking is not essential but it would be helpful to know numbers for the tour. Please let Tricia know by Monday 23rd Sept.
Friday 11th October: Guided Riverside Walk in
Norwich followed by lunch. Meet at 11am outside The Compleat
Angler pub, 120 Prince of Wales Rd, Norwich. The walk, led
once again by Mike Flett, will take in the many points of
interest along both sides of the river, and include a short
diversion to Ketts Heights to enjoy the great view across
Norwich. The walk will take about 1¼ hrs and finishes back
at Bishop Bridge; from there it is an easy walk into Norwich
centre. By popular demand, lunch has been booked at
Cote Brasserie, 29 Exchange St, at 1pm. Booking for
the walk and/or lunch by 3rd October. See sample lunch
Tuesday 29th October: Supper, AGM and Quiz, 7pm, Ludham Church Room. The short AGM gives the opportunity to review the past year, elect the Committee, and offer ideas and suggestions. It will be followed by supper. The winners of the light-hearted quiz, set this year by Graham and Sue, will become the new proud caretakers of the Stan Coles Trophy! This is always a fun evening-don’t miss it! No need to book but numbers for catering would be appreciated – contact Tricia.
